My thoughst after finishing the book:
The book was really good, one of the best so far. There were only a couple of things that irritated me, or I just didn’t like very much. One thing is that there was almost nothing of Perrin in it. I had grown really fond of him and what was happening with him in the fourth book that I got really disappointed when there was nothing about him in this book.
The development between Rand and Aviendha was very surprising, at least for me. My first reaction was that I just wanted to scream. I so want Rand and Elayne to be a couple!!! I’m most definitely rooting for her!
Nynaeve’s and Elayne’s adventures in the book were very exciting and interesting. Part of me was glad that they returned to their studying to become Aes Sedais, but part of me was angry at it. I had really hoped that they’d be reunited with Rand, Mat and Egwene.
Elayne’s letters to Rand have left me quite puzzled. I’d really like to know what was in them. That she had written how much she loved him in the first letter is clear to me but what exactly was in the second letter is still a mystery.
Egwene, well it’s really great that she is learning so much from the wise ones. And that she has learnt to stand up against Nynaeve. Good for her! But she has changed a lot. And I’m not completely sure if it’s all to the better. I guess the following books will show.
That Mat has finally accepted his faith, and all the stuff that has happened to him has made this book very interesting. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how his character will develop further on.
Moiraine’s death was just awful! I was really disappointed that she would die at this point, just as I had started to really like her character. Although the way she kept hinting that she could die almost made one guess that she would die.
Hopes for the future:
- That Lan and Nynaeve get together
- That Rand and Elayne get together
- That Thom and Morgaus meet again
- More encounters between Rand and the Forsaken ones
